As a father I'm often reminded of the similarities between raising young children and growing a business. This morning there was another reminder of this that just about summed up Method's 2025. My youngest's trousers, that had room for growth only 3 months ago are now more than a little snug. I also have a pre-teen daughter who now needs things that simply weren't required only a few months back.
Sometimes in business you also need to replace things that were just perfect for the size you used to be but unfortunately no longer quite do the job. As a business grows, you often also need to invest in things that weren't needed to the same degree when you were that bit smaller.
At Method, we've had a growth spurt this year. We wanted that growth of course, in fact we've been trying pretty hard to achieve it. Whilst grateful for it, we certainly felt the pinch in some areas and have therefore worked extremely hard behind the scenes to upgrade some essential aspects of the business.
The great news for us was that, due to our scalable operating model and long-standing investment in technology, that pinch wasn't felt in our operations nor in the level of service we provide. Thankfully, our clients we're none the wiser of any such growing pains.
We didn't have to compromise our values to cope with that 'pinch', either from a service or value perspective. We haven't needed to prioritise one client over another, move away from our desire to tailor service to meet client needs rather than standardise to an uncomfortable 'one size fits all approach' and we certainly haven't needed to rip off clients or borrowers to pay the bills.
We have upgraded our underlying infrastructure, from strategies to risk frameworks, policies to processes, enhanced our approach to data security and disaster recovery and have added further automation that prepares for the next growth spurt.
All in all, we've had a great year. We tried many things, lots of those things worked, some didn't, and that's ok. We've grown, built and expanded everything that we do and all while offering a level of service that we've been really proud of.
We've celebrated key milestones and personal achievements, we said goodbye to former colleagues, have welcomed some incredible new team members that will drive us forward to new heights and have started working with some exciting new lenders, brokers and surveyors.
What does 2026 have in store for us? In many ways more of the same. We'll continue to focus on the quality of our service and doing our very best for the lenders, surveyors and brokers that we work with. There are also likely to be announcements about exciting new developments and products so watch this space.
All that remains is to thank all of our incredible Lender, Broker and surveyor clients for all of their support this year. We really couldn't do what we do without you and we're extremely grateful.
