Laravel Developer

Reports to: Head of Systems Development

We are looking for a Laravel Developer to join our in-house development team here at Method, a market leading fintech provider of panel-management services.

As a key member of the development team, you will be charged with the support and development of several web applications; as well as being involved in the development of new products for both business and customer facing applications. We are a small but focused team with an even split of both operational support and development tasks.

While the role is primarily remote, the ability to travel to our head office in Gateshead for some work days and regular in-office meetings is a must.

This role is offered at a salary range of £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience with 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).

Working to support the day-to-day operation of the business providing support for a suite of business and client facing portals developed on the Laravel framework.

You will be a problem solver, able to work individually or with other members of a small development team to support our in-house applications.

Good communication skills are essential as ownership of projects and tasks is key to us at Method. You should be able to communicate a technical understanding of queries or issues; even when presented to you in a non-technical manner.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Work with members of the team to support day to day operations.
  • Ensure your work is well documented and tested.
  • Ensure data security standards are met always.
  • Minimise risks to data integrity.
  • Implement Industry standards where appropriate.

Reporting to the Head of Systems Development, you will be responsible for producing high quality, reliable code with a focus on performance and security.

  • Agree and meet project milestones.
  • Provide regular updates to development team members.
  • Produce fit for purpose, reliable, secure code.

What level of experience and skills are required?

  • A minimum of 3 years industry experience is essential.
  • A background with:
    • PHP8
    • Laravel
    • MySQL
    • CSS/JS build tools
    • GIT

What would we consider a bonus?

  • A working knowledge of Laravel Sail/Docker.
  • A working knowledge of MacOS for Development.
  • A working knowledge of CI or automated testing.

Valuation Quality Checking Manager

Reports to: Head of Surveying Services

Method Valuation is one of the UK's top providers of panel management services, predominantly to the financial services industry. We connect those that require surveying services to those that are able to provide them using market-leading technology.

A key service offered to lender clients is that of Valuation Quality Checking and the role of Valuation Quality Checking Manager is responsible for undertaking a significant proportion of these reviews. This role involves utilising your valuation experience and qualifications to perform valuation quality checks to a high degree of accuracy whilst ensuring that valuation reports are still received on time by our clients.

Your profile

  • You'll be a RICS qualified and registered valuer with either and FRICS or MRICS qualification.
  • You'll have at least 5 years of post qualification experience.
  • You'll have at least 5 years experience of undertaking Redbook valuations for secured lending purposes.
  • You'll have knowledge of valuation covering commercial, residential property types. Additional knowledge around trading business valuations would also be preferable.

What you'll do in the role

  • Utilise your valuation experience and qualifications to undertake quality checks on valuation reports submitted for our lender clients by our panel of surveyors, ensuring that they meet their requirements.
  • Ensure that all lender requirements are met for each report. Where this is not the case, have the knowledge and confidence to reject the report with clear instructions around what the surveyor needs to do to improve the report.
  • Ensure that lender's required timescales are not unnecessarily delayed by the quality checking service.
  • Communicate effectively with our panel of surveyors to ensure that they fully understand the lenders requirements and how they can be delivered.
  • Provide advice to panel members on report improvements and reducing QC failure rates.
  • Support the business and our lender clients by assessing valuation related complaints and valuation report reviews.
  • Provide valuation expertise to the Operations and Relationship Management Teams in support of case progression along with query and dispute resolution.
  • Support Method's Head of Surveying Services with additional client services and requirements.
  • Attend relevant team meetings and events and provide input into these.
